League Information

WAUSAU AREA YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE (WAYFL)

WAYFL is a tackle football program for youth in fourth (4th) through seventh (7th) grade. The league is available for those youth who reside in the Wausau School District or are enrolled in Newman Catholic Schools. The league consists of three divisions: 4th/5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade.

SEASON: Six Games on Saturdays from September 6, 2014 to October 11, 2014

GAME TIME: 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 p.m.

GAME LOCATION: Wausau West, 1200 West Wausau Ave., Wausau, Wisconsin

EQUIPMENT:
WAYFL provided: Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Game Pants, Mouthguard, Game Jersey

Player provided: Practice Jersey, Football Cleats

PRACTICES: Each coach schedules their own practices. Coaches are free to practice as often as they want before Wausau School District begins classes. Once classes begin practice is limited to two times per week. Teams can begin practicing on August 16, 2014.

EQUIPMENT PICKUP: SUNDAY AUGUST 24, 2014 @ Wausau West. Time to be announced

TEAM FORMATION: 4th/5th teams are set by elementary school attended. 6th and 7th teams are determined by WAYFL officers and coaches. Players should be notified of their teams the week of August 12.

COACHES MEETING: AUGUST 14, 2014 @ Wausau West.

VOLUNTEER COACHES AND BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED

WAYFL is in jeopardy of ending. At this time two people, Matt Mayer and Curt Day, organize and operate the league. Neither Curt nor Matt have had a player in the program the last 6 years. If people do not step up to organize and operate WAYFL, the program will end. Please consider volunteering.


WAYFL has awarded over $10,000 in College Scholarships the last five years.
